Overview

Ophthalmology Management Group Limited (OMG) represents the majority of practising ophthalmologists in South Africa. It is a Management Services Organisation that negotiates with Medical Schemes, Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Companies and other interested parties in the Healthcare Industry. Its members are the specialists who treat patients who belong to Medical Schemes and Private Patients who do not have any medical cover.

The Healthcare Industry has become extremely complex in the last few years and not only do doctors find it difficult to operate in such environment, but patients often do not understand the exact nature of their medical cover and what their responsibilities are as well as what they may and may not do. For this reason, OMG has decided to put out this short information document to assist patients in getting a better understanding of their rights.
